The rally which saw 500 young men and women motorcycle riders was flagged off at India Gate by Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar, Science and Technology Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot.
The Ministers also administered a pledge to create mass awareness about the campaign. Street Plays and cultural programs were also organized on the occasion besides playing of musical bands. The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) [DEPwD] is also running the Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) for creating universal accessibility in built environment, public transportation, and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) ecosystem. Efforts are being made to make the campaign a mass movement by involving citizens in various States and sensitizing the society towards disability and the need for accessibility.
