CCTNS to be operationalised by March 31 next year: Govt

The ambitious Crime and Criminal Tracking Networks and System (CCTNS) project will be operationalised by 31st of March next year. The project aims to connect all police stations in the country with the objective of tracking crime and criminals related data on real time. So far, 12,665 police stations and 5,233 higher offices have been integrated to the system. However, CCTNS project will interconnect about 15,000 police stations and additional 5,000 offices of supervisory police officers across the country and digitise data related to FIR registration, investigation and charge sheets in all police stations.

Under CCTNS project there is a provision for providing role based training on core application software (CAS) to police personnel including investigating officers, Altogether 4,43,229 police personnel have so far been imparted role-based training across the country. This would lead to development of a national database of crimes and criminals. The project will enable national-level crime analytics to be published at increased frequency, helping policymakers as well as lawmakers in taking appropriate and timely action. It will also enable pan-India criminal/accused name search in the regional language for improved inter-state tracking of criminal movement.

So let's discuss some questions related to this post:
1. The CCTNC project will be operationalised from ?
2. Expand the term CCTNS.
