B R Ambedkar's death anniversary: 6 December
The Nation is remembering the architect of the Indian Constitution and Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar on his 60th death anniversary. Dr Ambedkar died on this day in 1956. Since then, Mahaparinirvan Diwas is observed every year to pay him tributes.
Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (14th April 1891 – 6th December 1956), popularly known as Babasaheb, was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who inspired the Dalit Buddhist Movement and campaigned against social discrimination against Untouchables, while also supporting the rights of women and labour. He was Independent India's first law minister and the principal architect of the Constitution of India.
