Cast: Ranvir Shorey, Neha Dhupia

Bollywood Bubble Rating: ★★1/2
Known as a versatile performer in Bollywood, actor Ranvir Shorey is ready for the release of his next movie ‘Moh Maya Money‘ tomorrow. The trailer of the movie was quite impressive which had loosely showcased some black money transaction visuals with Ranvir in it. Looking at the current scenario after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s move to root out the black money, will this thriller drama be able to bring some relevance by providing a worth watching experience for the viewers? Find out in this ‘Moh Maya Money‘ movie review.
The plot begins with Aman, a middle-class man with high aspirations in life. He is into real estate line while his wife Divya works in a news channel. Aman loves Divya, but she somehow feels disconnected with him, engrossing herself more in work. Being a risk taker, Aman tries to do a fraud with his company by taking a huge deal to another party. With a big loan taken from a goon during this scam, Aman gets exposed and is fired from his company. Now risking his life to repay the loan, Aman plans something which will end his and Divya’s woes. But will Divya support him? What’s the big plan? What are Divya’s intentions? Will Aman be successful in escaping the matter? What price Aman and Divya have to pay in the end? All answers lie in ‘Moh Maya Money’.
Talking about performances, Ranvir Shorey plays the part of Aman with such an ease. His performance is incredible. There are some scenes in the second half where his expressions and acting simply prove his versatility as a performer. Neha Dhupia surprises with her controlled act while playing Divya. She has acted brilliantly and some of her emotional breakdown scenes are worth noticing. In the supporting cast, actor Ashwath Bhatt’s act is fine and won’t go unnoticed.
The film is written and directed by Munish Bhardwaj. It’s his directorial debut, yet Munish has succeeded in giving a good effort. The writing of first half is good and taut but the second half is slightly predictable. His direction is commendable especially the scene where Ranvir carries black money amounting to Rs 50 lakh in cash with the denomination of Rs 500. That was quite a shot relevant in today’s scenario. Munish could have made the second half more gripping.
Technically, the film could have been tighter on its editing by Hitesh Kumar. The cinematography by Arun Varma is okay. Resul Pookutty adds beauty with his expert sound design in a couple of scenes.
To wrap it up, ‘Moh Maya Money’ is worth a watch for Ranvir Shorey’s performance. It’s a good thriller but could have been much better. If you love to watch content-driven films, this is a nice choice but you have to be patient with the slow pace. So the choice is yours!
